Dr. Barry Lavallee

MD, CCFP, FCFP, FRCPSC (Hons), MClSc Dr. Barry Lavallee, is a member of the Métis community of St. Laurent, Manitoba. He holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree and obtained a Master of Clinical Sciences Degree from the University of Western Ontario in 2004. Dr. Lavallee’s expertise encompasses chronic diseases, transgenerational trauma, and the impact of colonization on healthcare. In 2019, he transitioned to the role of Chief Executive Officer at Keewatinohk Inniniw Minoayawin Inc. During his 17 years of clinical service to Tataskweyak First Nation, he dedicated himself to enhancing healthcare outcomes. As the former president of the Indigenous Physicians Association in Canada, Dr. Lavallee engaged in international collaborations on Indigenous healthcare initiatives. In recognition of his team’s work on Manitoba’s Kidney Check program, they were awarded the UNIVANTS of Healthcare Excellence – Best in North America in 2020 at the University of Manitoba.
